Canon: Death Note
Character: L Lawliet
Timeline: End of episode 19

Personality:
L is a very interesting character.

He's very easy to downplay when you first see him. L looks like he hardly takes care of himself at all- he's of the age where you can imagine him being that one college student who really doesn't care about much other than sleeping and eating and playing video games. But there's so much more to L than that. It's almost criminal when people look at him at first and throw him off from first looks alone.

To put it pretty simply, L is one of the world's greatest geniuses to have roamed the earth. He specializes in criminal justice, and has solved more than 3,000 cases by himself alone. While he does detective work as L, he also has other names: Denuve, Eraldo Coil. L can juggle his time between these three names perfectly, while solving crimes all the while. He's nicknamed the world's greatest detective, and the smartest character in the whole series of Death Note. Clearly there's a lot for him to brag about...and he does.

This all being said...

L isn't your typical detective who sits at his desk with the blinds drawn shut. He doesn't wear fancy suits, nor does he carry around a magnifying glass. He doesn't need any of that. The way L works is very unique; he's the only one who acts as he does, and he has a very good reason for doing so.

You could say he looks in-between the cracks for a lot of things. He sits with his feet flat on the ground and brings his knees to his chest. He's discovered that sitting like that increases his detective skills by about 40%.

Background:

To be honest...there's not much background to L at all. All we know of his past is that he was found as a boy by Watari with no known parents. Watari adopted him into the Wammy House, which was an orphanage. L's intellect was spotted very early; it was said that he found a way to put a stop to WWII when he was only eight. Sometime in the future, L became a detective, and solved more than 3,500 cases on his own. It wasn't too far from then he gained the title 'the world's greatest detective.'

Abilities/Additional Notes:

There's nothing too special about L, other than his brains. It's been shown that he is skilled in martial arts, though!
